Changes, perspective, and learning...

So things are changing…this world is changing.  Is it that I’m getting older and I am more concerned with it all?  I maintain, as people get older they worry more or feel that things are more drastic/dramatic than others that are younger.  Is that what is happening in my heart and mind?  Is it my perspective that is changing?....what is it?!!!  I’m not sure…but as I sit here on a really hot and humid night in Budapest I see, hear and feel change. 

The United Kingdom – leaving the EU – that’s a change.  What are the ‘ripples’ that our world will feel from that?  The election in America coming up – that will be a change no doubt.  Again – what ‘ripples’ will be felt? 

And another ‘hot’ topic is the refugee situation around the world.  It really is around the world...it is everywhere.   I have been honored to have been in Greece and Croatia listening, observing, serving, teaching, crying, praying, playing, aching….all with these people that are just so real and reaching out!  We talk of them collectively – which is a common action – but they really are all so different with their very own stories, hearts, families and it is all so very raw and real.   This is a big change in our world…biggest migration since WWII.  That’s big…what really are the ripple effects from this?  We are still feeling ripples from WWII to be quite honest.

I sit here whining and complaining in my hot house – with no air-conditioning…but fairly thankful for several fans and a small pool in the back yard.  I remember just 2 weeks ago…we were in camps that were rows of tents in warehouses with only porta potties and sinks for water.  What is my perspective?  How do the changes in our world and my personal experiences and people that I love, treasure and meet shape that perspective?  Those things are all changing as well….and so I trust I am learning.  I am learning more about change, about perspective, about life, about people and their cultures and how those mix (or sometimes don’t) with other people and cultures.  It is all simply amazing to me – I love it. 


I am reminded yet again that life is good – even with the changes and various perspectives – and beyond a shadow of a doubt – God is waaaaay better.  He is in that change, He is in our perspectives – He is in this good life:).

So it begins...Ethiopia

New blogger here.  Not sure what I'm doing but I have some amazing people in my life that seem interested in 'following' me during my adventures this summer.  The name of this blog (letusgive) may seem odd but hopefully it will become clear through my subsequent posts - to me as I write it and also to those that read!  Here we go...together! Thank you Momma

December 31, 2015 Life is good, God is waaaay better.   I’m starting with that statement this time – I am reassured of that each day – really each hour these past couple of days.   People – family, friends, folks on the street or in the store have all been incredible.   People know – they ‘sense’ hurt and respond appropriately.   That is so very treasured.   My Momma died on Tuesday, December 29th at 13:49 PST.   Dad, Phyllis, Bob via FaceTime, Susan, Nathan, Jesse and I were all there…holding her hand, stroking her arm, leg, shoulder, forehead, making sure she could ‘feel’ us and hoping she could hear us.   I whispered to her a lot that day…the nurses would kind of talk loudly to her as they swabbed out her mouth or did some routine on her.   I couldn’t do that – I wanted to be gentle with my Momma…loud noises would startle her at home recently.   She would wake up and say ‘what was that’…I didn’t want her startled.   I wanted her t...

2 and 2017:)

New year…new me?   Probably not to be totally honest but I do like how 2017 is going so far. I have been living in Hungary for two years.   Now who would have ever believed that when I took off from my amazing company and job of 27 years back in November 2013 that I would have lived six months in Poland, spent six months back in U.S. and then moved to Hungary for two years but planning/hoping on three!? I’m here to tell you – I love how life moves along.   And again to be totally honest, I love moving along with it.
